The evidence behind an AI answer isn’t always your own site. In plenty of categories, community, review, and media sources get cited more than owned pages. Off-Site is the workspace for getting your brand into those external sources.

If Citation shows a low owned share, this is the faster move: faster than publishing more on-site pages.

Publish modes

Automated publishing requires both a connected account and workspace setup. Either one missing puts the item in Setup needed.

Reddit recommendations

Finds Reddit threads that AI answers actually cite and recommends participating.

What to check in the detail view:

Use Copy draft to grab the text and publish it yourself.

Don’t paste the draft as-is. Every community has its own tone and context, and anything that reads as promotional can get deleted or the account penalized. Treat the draft as a starting point, not a final post: rewrite it to fit the thread.

Cited threads you can’t post to

Separately surfaces threads that an AI answer cites but where the community’s rules ban product mentions, so you can’t participate.

These threads aren’t participation targets. But they tell you what the community is discussing, which is useful as source material for on-site content topics.

The rules text may not have been captured, or may have changed since it was assessed. Check the community’s actual rules yourself before posting.

Publish review

When you run an automated publish, a review runs first. If it flags a potential issue, a warning appears and you choose whether to proceed.

Publishing makes a real change on an external service. It’s hard to undo, so always check the draft and the rules whenever a warning appears.

Dismissing

If a recommendation doesn’t fit, dismiss it. Check Don’t suggest this again to exclude the target from future analysis; leave it unchecked and the same recommendation resurfaces next run.

Dismissed items can be restored from the Dismissed tab.

Working routine

1. Find the gap in Citation

   In Citation’s acquisition targets, identify sources only your competitors are cited in.

2. Review the Todo tab

   Open a recommendation and check the draft and target thread.

3. Rewrite the draft

   Adjust it to fit the community’s context. Never publish it as-is.

4. Publish, or do it yourself

   Use automated publishing if it’s available and reviewed, otherwise copy the draft and publish manually.

5. Check the impact

   Two to four weeks later, check Citation to see whether that source has started citing you.

Off-Site takes longer to show results than On-Site. External content has to get indexed and picked up as evidence before AI adopts it.

Troubleshooting

Stuck in Setup needed

Automated publishing needs both a connected account and workspace setup. Check connection status in Integrations.

Automated publishing is disabled

Your workspace has automated publishing turned off. Copy the draft and publish it yourself, or contact your admin.

A publish failed

Either the external service rejected it or the response timed out. Check the current status and retry. If it fails repeatedly, check the connected account’s permissions.

There's no draft

It hasn’t been generated yet, or generation failed. It will be retried on the next analysis run.

A published post got removed

It was judged to violate community rules. Dismiss that target and find another thread the rules allow.

The list isn't updating

A “showing saved actions” notice means live updates are temporarily paused. Refresh in a moment.
